HEREWITH THE ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE
SCRAPBOOK STUDIO BLOG:
SCRAPBOOK STUDIO BLOG:
Well, after almost 2 months of searching and scouring through applications, we are proud to announce that we have selected a group of diverse and very talented, interesting ladies to serve on the Scrapbook Studio Design Team for 2012! We took a long, hard look at the market, what seems to be popular, but we also realised that there seems to be a need for something that is more “real” than “perfect”…………So, we have put together a team of 7 very versatile Scrappers to make up our Design Team– from veterans to fairly new scrappers. From technique scrappers to pure paper scrappers. From really intricate Design Scrappers, to basic real life Scrappers! We hope that you will find some inspiration among their work and that you will support them if they are teachers by going to their classes at your local Scrapbook Shop, or follow them on their blogs or Facebook and make sure that they keep Scrapping! We also hope that you will support us in this, one of the first endeavors of it’s kind in South Africa, where a retail store has a Design Team! This is our first time, so we are sure we will make mistakes but we are hoping that you will enjoy this journey with us, and please let us know how we can improve!! So, without further ado, here goes! We will introduce them in the order of the month that they will be designing! If you want to visit their individual blogs, just click on their names, and you will be taken directly to their blogs to see some more of their work!

June – Mariaan Fouché
I am extremely honoured to be part of the first Scrapbook Studio Design team! I am very proud to see my name amongst those other tremendously talented woman!
I am 32 years old, happily married for 8 years to my husband Johan and we have two adorable little hooligans, Carl & Ulrich.
I saw scrapbooking in a magazine whilst on maternity leave with my first born and decided then and there that this is what I wanted to do. I love that my hobby can give me so much joy and at the same time create a legacy for my children.
It was only a year and a half later when I actually started and was hooked after the first layout! I love taking pictures and try to let the photo's inspire me but sometimes I will be inspired by a certain product, paper or get an idea from everyday things. I like to try new techniques and products and still have so much to learn!

July – Patricia Basson
I am mother to three grown up children and a very conceding husband who, like most husbands truly believes that all my Scrap booking supplies are bought on special at a very good price! I am truly thankful to have such a supporting husband at my side. I usually scrap photos of my children's younger days, those days of film cameras before the age of digital, therefore I will most often than not scrap one photo, one pagers. I am an absolute Tim Holtz addict, love his products and techniques and try to incorporate it into my LO's.
August – Jowilna Nolte
I have been in the industry for 15 plus years now and have loved the more than interesting journey it has taken me on so far. I started off my career in retail working in a paper shop importing handmade speciality papers from japan, Canada, India and America. We also imported a range of rubber stamps (PSX), along with Ranger Products, and Tsukineko to mention a few. This was all back in 2000. I moved to the wholesale part of the business and got involved in window dressing and opening a second flagship store for the company while the owners were overseas.
I have travelled extensively to America visiting CHA and Frankfurt Germany to their biggest paper trade show “Paperworld” where I gained valuable knowledge regarding the industry. After a whirlwind love affair with the business I headed off into the sunset to fulfil my second dream by working in publishing. I started off as Technical Editor on a scrapbooking magazine and worked on several other craft publications in the company as well. But this was not enough – after a long journey I started my own scrapbooking magazine, which transformed into writing a real book book as opposed to a magazine book, and the rest is history. I am currently a best-selling author in the craft industry with my book “Scrap-Boek” being the fourth best seller in South Africa and currently in second print.
I am a freelance artist doing work for various companies such as Caxton Magazines that includes Rooi Rose and Bona Magazine to mention a few. I travel regularly to various shows teaching and presenting lectures on scrapbooking, card-making and creativity. I have been published several times in American publications such as Taken Ten Magazine, Catch Up Issue – both Somerset Publications. I was also asked to be a guest artist by Taken Ten Magazine for one of their issues in which an entire article was dedicated to my work. In December 2011, I made my television debut by presenting Christmas Crafts on 3 Talk with Noeleen.
After a bit of a sabbatical with my on-line classroom website Scrapcouture, we are busy revamping it with a fresh new approach to bringing creativity and new techniques to people all over the world. Other than that I spend lots of time scrapbooking and making cards and teaching classes weekly in Gauteng as well as throughout South Africa. I am passionate about what I do and I have had many amazing experiences and met so many famous people throughout my creative journey. I am truly blessed with a gift from God!
September – René Sharp
Hello, my name is Rene’ Sharp and I live in a small town Dundee in Northern KZN. I have been happily married to my hubby Ray for 13 years now and we have 3 sons, Caide – 12, Bryce – 10 and Jamie – 4. I absolutely adore being a Mom and Wife and love the life we live in our little town. It’s a great place to bring up our boys!!
I have been scrapbooking since 2005 when I was shown a small demonstration, and have been hooked ever since. I am absolutely passionate about this hobby, and love the rewards it brings. To me there is nothing better than when my boys pull out their albums and they get excited remembering occasions and events from years gone by. I starting stamping and cardmaking a few years later, and also thoroughly enjoy the creative outlet this provides me!!
I am currently on the DT for two sites called Sketches in Thyme and Southern Girl Challenges, and in the past years have been on numerous scrapbooking and card making Design Teams.
It has been a dream of mine to design for a Scrapbook Company, so I am overjoyed to have been chosen to be a Design Team member for Cariena and Scrapbook Studio!! I have “known” Cariena for years, and have come to know her as a wonderfully sincere, honest and hardworking lady, she runs Scrapbook Studio with passion and enthusiasm. It is going to be an honor to represent such a wonderful company!!
I would love for you to drop by my blog http://www.stampinginsunnysa.blogspot.com and say “hi”.
October – Lynette Jacobs
Hello, my name is Lynette Jacobs and I live in Port Elizabeth. If I have to name what my passions are in life...it would be my family, my walk with the Lord, photography, scrapbooking and the work we do in our community. I have been married to my childhood sweetheart Kobus for the past 33 years and we have three grown children. I adore my family and have been blessed with 5 gorgeous grandchildren (and another on the way in June). They are my pride and joy and the subject of most of my scrapping.
My husband and I founded a non-profit organization in 1998 that provides for the needs of nearly 580 homeless and poor people whom we house at the Mission. I still stand amazed at what the Lord has done and is doing on a daily basis at the mission. After 14 years of working in the Mission, I have still not gotten used to the heartbreak and brokenness of the people that cross our paths. This work is very stressful and emotional and scrapbooking provides me with much needed stress-relief and recharges my batteries..
I started scrapbooking in 2005 when I enrolled to receive monthly scrapbook kits. I love that my hobby can give me so much pleasure and at the same time create a legacy for my children and grandchildren. I would describe my scrapping style as clean and uncluttered. I love using embellishments but my photos will always take center stage. I am thrilled to be part of the Scrapbook Studio design team.
November – Tilla Hollingworth
Hi there ! My name is Tilla and I have been scrapbooking since 2007. I am an interior designer in the mornings, mom to two very busy kids in the afternoons and wife to a lovely husband, who does not understand my addiction to scrapbooking, but tolerates it !
Designer, homemaker, crafter and prettiness junkie probably describes me best – not necessarily in that order !
I love to scrapbook our family life and holidays – we enjoy traveling and this year we hope to visit 4 different African countries before Christmas ! Both myself, my husband and increasingly the kids are keen photographers, so we always end up with stacks of photos and there is always plenty of material to work with.
I like to use multiple photos on my layouts and keep things relatively simple, so that my layouts can come together quickly. I go to a scrap class at least once a month, but most of my scrapping is done at home – early morning on the weekend is the best !
I recently started a blog so that I could participate in online challenges – and this led me to Scrapbooking Studio J thru Scrap Africa’s Sketch blog. I am looking forward to being a part of this exciting new Design Team and can’t wait to see what all these talented ladies are going to inspire us with !
Above is one of my more recent favourite layouts – love that they have so many photos on and just a few simple details.
And there you have it! Seven wonderful ladies whom we hope will make you want to scrap, scrap, scrap and create cards and other paper crafts! Yes, Cardmakers – don’t fear – every month there will be cards for you as well – we will make sure of that! All products they will use will be available in kit form from Scrapbook Studio, or you can buy them individually! We are starting another new venture, but you will hear all about that on 1 May! So make a note in your diary! Big things are happening! Happy scrapping and follow us on Facebook or Subscribe to our Blog (the link to do that is on the right side of the posts on the blog) so that you never miss a thing! Happy scrapping and we hope to see or hear from you soon at the shop – online or at 106 Da Gama Road, Jeffreys Bay!
